A Gravend woman is raising money for the British Heart Foundation by organising a night of curry, comedy and cabaret.
Philippa Dunstan, has organised the event - Anyone Who Has A Heart - because her husband, Sam Magee, was born was a heart condition, and was one of the first babies in the 1970s to undergo heart surgery.
Mr Magee’s condition has required ongoing treatment since birth and he is currently waiting for a heart and lung transplant.
Mrs Dunstan said: “I wanted to organise this event because The BHF is a charity that my whole family is extremely passionate about.
“The research for new surgical procedures and drugs enabled through their fundraising saves so many lives. Were it not for the BHF Sam would not have made it to 44.
“We desperately hope new treatments are discovered for Sam and so many other people that are waiting for transplants and suffering from heart disease. For medical research to continue, it is essential that funds are raised to support the British Heart Foundation.”
Anyone Who Has A Heart will see guests will mingle with celebrities, be entertained by a walking magician and enjoy a glass of bubbly during a red carpet reception.
The evening will include a curry dinner, comedy entertainment including award-winning comedian Sooz Kempner, and live music from West End Singer Emma Lindar.
The Jugnu Bhangra dancers will also be performing along with others.
A disco provided by Stan Lee King will round the evening off.
The show will be hosted by well-known comic duo and regular faces at The Woodville Ant Payne and Rob Pearce.
Mr Pearce said: “We’re really excited to be supporting the BHF and hosting this event at one of our favourite theatres. It’s going to be a great night with loads of special guests, surprises and prizes too.”
Mrs Dunstan added: “This isn’t about helping Sam alone, it’s about raising money for research which has kept him and so many others alive. Sam is an amazing husband and loving father to our children. He is so passionate about helping others and even when he is having a bad day and struggling to get about he is always positive and will tell everyone he’s alright, and he’s doing well.
“I am keen to promote this event as a celebration and it is set to be a great evening with lots of fun. I really hope that people will come along and join us.
“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has helped with the organisation and to our sponsors; The Woodville, Seatlive, Ebbsfleet Printing Solutions, Aurora Spa, K5W, My Can Do Balloons and Diamond Event Hire, Firkin Ale, Gravesham LVA, and the many companies who have donated amazing prizes.”
