A new Jesus Christ is born – for the stage musical circuit.

The new Lord emerged by using his singing to draw followers, who picked up their phones and voted for him, last night.

Hailing from chilly Sunderland, the new Saviour is called Ben Forster.

The 31-year-old won ITV1’s TV talent show Superstar, last night.

“I can’t believe it, I wasn’t expecting this to happen in my lifetime,” he said.

“So thank you so much to everyone who voted, I will absolutely do you proud.”

His victory was sealed by a rendition of Queen tune, Who Wants to Live Forever.

Judge Mel C branded it “utterly astounding.”

Forster, who has performed before on West End stages, shall now play Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar.

The Old Spice is set to become a prostitute by playing Mary Magdalene in the stage show.
