Medway Drum Studio to host drum clinic with Uriah Heep’s Russell Gilbrook

Drummers of all skill levels are welcome

Medway Drum Studio have announed that it’ll be hosting its first drum clinic.

The Chatham based facility have secured the services of drummer and drum clinician Uriah Heep’s very own Russell Gilbrook.

On Friday, September 15, at 7.30pm, Russell will be paying a visit to The George Hotel, New Road, during a brief beak in the recording of rock band Uriah Heep’s album and his busy tour schedule.

Russell said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to Medway to host a drum clinic for Phil. I’ve never been to Medway, so it’s going to be very exciting for me.”

Talking about the event he added: “I will be showing secret techniqiues to help drummers as well as answerinf questions about drumming and the music business in general. See you there.”

Owner and prinicple Phil Wilson, said: “We were delighted when Russell said that he would be able to come along. He will be demonstrating his skills, lighning grooves and everything else that enables him to play on the biggest stages. He’ll be sharing hints and tips that have enabled him to work with a wide variety of acts from Chris Barber and Lonnie Donnegan to John Farnham and Van Morrison and, of course, the monsters that are Uriah Heep.”

It’s not just for drummers though.

Phil added: “Drummers and non-drummers alike will benefit from Russell’s experience and wisdom. His clinics really tick all the boxes. Skillfil, powerful, a great teacher and, above all, for our event, entertaining.

“Variety is the spice of life and Russell’s ability to stretch into such a massive genre width is testimony to his hard work and dedication.”

There will be a section for the absolute beginner too, so all ages and abilities are welcome.

The event is being supported by bands including Sakae Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Pellwood Drumsticks, Mapex Drums and Vic Firth Drumsticks.
