Transfer news: Chris Powell has found the transfer market a tricky place so far this summer.
Chris Powell has admitted to being frustrated by a lack of signings so far this summer but remains hopeful that reinforcements will arrive in time for their return to the Championship.
In Jordan Cook and Lawrie Wilson, Powell has overseen just two signings so far compared to the 20 signings he made last summer after becoming manager at the Valley.
“No doubt it is slightly different this year,” Powell told Charlton’s official website. “Last year I was making wholesale changes and there were plenty of players who became available that I felt were right for us.
“This year it’s been a little bit trickier with regards to bringing players in, but I’m hopeful that will happen over time.
“It has been a bit slow, but I’ve tried to get one or two players which hasn’t happened, so you just move on and hope you get the people you are targeting over the line and into the squad,” he added.
