The Addicks have a 100 per cent record in pre-season friendlies
Charlton boss Chris Powell has been pleased with the progress of his side so far this pre-season.
The Addicks continued their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 win over Crawley on Wednesday thanks to a free-kick from Danny Green – the second man to have scored for the south Londoners from a set-piece.
“There have been good. But we do have people that can take a mean free-kick.
“Yann scored a couple last week at Barnet and then Danny got his tonight. We are waiting for Jacko [Johnnie Jackson] to open up with one but he’s got on the scoresheet as well so far this pre-season.
“It’s gone well. We’ve trained really well and the boys have got a good spirit and good unity about them. We’ve carried that on [from last season] and it’s important to me,” he continued.
“Obviously you want to work on things. We have been playing slightly differently and whether we stick with that remains to be seen.
“They are all taking it on board and at times we have opened teams up. But we just have to make sure we are right in and out of possession.
“That’s the stuff all teams will work on and we are no different. We now go to Gillingham a localish derby for this pre-season and the closest thing we’ve got to a home game this year sadly.
“But I’m sure we will have plenty of fans there and I’m looking for us to continue the good form we’ve had so far in pre-season.”
