Charlton boss Chris Powell has backed Yann Kermorgant to be a success in the Championship after his spell at Leicester ended in embarrassment.

The Frenchman was forever remembered by the Foxes for his chipped penalty that was comfortably saved by Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall.

But Powell has backed the forward to show that he has improved.

“I think he will show people that he’s a good player, a class player,” Powell said.

“I think people will look at his period at Leicester and wonder if he can do it in the Championship, but I know he can and know for a fact that he will do that this season.”
