»Bluewater shopping centre has a new general manager.
Lend Lease, which manages the centre, has appointed Robert Goodman to the post.
He has most recently worked for commercial property firm Land Securities.
He said: “I am very excited to have joined Bluewater at the most important point in its history since opening. The successful launch of Glow in November, the constant evolution of Bluewater’s offer, and Lend Lease’s commitment to further enhancing Bluewater’s unique day out experience mean that expectations are high.
“Nevertheless, I bring a skill set and insight that complements the highly capable teams at Bluewater and Lend Lease, and I relish the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
Bluewater experienced a very strong Christmas with footfall up by eight per cent compared to the previous year.
Mr Goodman has worked as centre director at thecentre:mk, in a number of positions in BAA airports, including retail director at Budapest Airport, at BAA Scotland, at Gatwick, Heathrow and in France.
Prior to airport retailing Mr Goodman worked with Marks and Spencer.
Mark Boor, head of retail asset management at Lend Lease, said: “As the number one retail destination in the UK, Bluewater requires strong, experienced and innovative leadership.
“Robert exceeded our criteria and is the perfect person to lead Bluewater through the next stage of its evolution.”
He replaces Andrew Parkinson, who left in September after taking the role in 2007, to become Liverpool Football Club’s first-ever operations director.
