Striker Gozie Ugwu leaves Fleet after two months at Stonebridge Road.

Fleet fans have seen the last of Reading loanee Gozie Ugwu for now, but boss Liam Daish insists he’ll keep him on his radar.

The 18-year-old scored four goals in 10 appearances for the Fleet after joining at the beginning of February, but opted to return to the Madejski Stadium for the final month of the season to try and earn a new contract.

“We would have loved to keep him but Gozie (above) wanted to be back at Reading,” said Daish.

“At this stage of the season there are contracts to play for and I am very appreciative to Reading for allowing Gozie to come here. He had done well since he arrived and we’ll keep him on our radar.”

Daish admits his side have drawn a tough fixture list over the Easter period, but says he is looking forward to the duels.

“They are two teams who have had a great season, with Forest Green in the top 10 and Braintree in their first season at this level,” he said.

“Forest Green is always a nice place to play and it will be good to get a home win on Monday.”
