The suspects followed the victim down an alley before trying to empty his pockets

Police are appealing for witnesses of an attempted robbery of an elderly man in Dartford town centre.

The victim, in his seventies, visited a bank on the High Street on June 13 at 12pm, but noticed that a man and woman were following him down an alleyway.

The woman, who was wearing a green top, green scarf and spoke with a foreign accent, pushed him against the wall and showed him a map of London, making him look at it.

As she spoke, she attempted to remove items from the victim’s pockets before the couple left together.

The man is sescribed as wearing all black, six feet tall, with black facial hair.

Detective constable Bill Locker, said: “Thankfully nothing was taken from the victim and he was uninjured, but understandably shaken up by the incident.

“We would like to speak with people near the alleyway who might have seen something was amiss, and ask them to come forward.”

Any witnesses are asked to contact Kent Police on 01474 366149 quoting XY/27889/17.
