Members of the public helped the driver to escape from the vehicle

A crash on the A2 yesterday afternoon resulted in a car leaving the road and coming to rest on its roof in the central reservation.

The accident took place on the Londonbound carriageway at Singlewell. Members of the public helped the driver to make his way out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived to provide emergency care and make the scene safe.

The man was later handed over to the care of the ambulance service.
