The celebrations for the Woodville’s 50th birthday are continuing, and last month Ron and Denise Venison renewed their vows at the theatre for free as winners of a competition celebrating the anniversary.

The couple’s daughter Paula Martin entered the competition on behalf of her parents earlier in the year.

Ron and Denise have been together since they were 11 years old, got engaged at 16 and were married shortly after after Denise’s 21st birthday.

They are now celebrating 40 years of marriage.

They have been to the Woodville plenty of times during their time together and so it seemed very fitting to renew their vows at a place that had such fond memories for them.

The vows renewal took place at 4pm which was the time of their actual wedding all those years ago.

Local business Chic Weddings donated all of the venue decorations and disco company Stan Lee King Disco played hits from the 60’s for the reception at free of charge.

Laurie Edwards from Chic Weddings said: “We were delighted to support The Woodville with their ‘Win a Wedding Celebration’ competition during their 50th anniversary year.

“As a local Gravesend-based business we felt the competition was a great opportunity for us to be able to give something back to the community who continually put their trust in us, as well as help Ron and Denise turn their vows renewal dreams into a reality”

Denise said: ”Winning the vows renewal at The Woodville was a real shock to us as we didn’t know that our daughter had entered us in to the competition. “We had a wonderful day, the venue looked amazing and the staff made the whole experience really lovely.

“We would like to wish the Woodville a happy 50th birthday and thank the team for helping us to celebrate 40 years of marriage with our friends and family.

“I would recommend The Woodville to anybody for a celebration. The service was five star and can’t thank everybody involved enough.”

The Woodville’s official 50th birthday is in November but during the year there has been lots of special events and giveaways to celebrate.

There have been Golden Tickets performances, where special gifts and giveaways have been hidden on certain seats during performances, free cinema for a year for Gravesham residents that are turning 50 this year and other offers including free theatre for 18 years for babies born in Gravesham this year.
