Robbers who knocked a 63-year-old store manager to the floor during a raid left a trail of losing scratchcards as they fled the scene.
Two men wearing balaclavas and carrying a crowbar tageted the Co-Op in Henderson Drive, Dartford, at about 6.15am on Wednesday.
They took the contents of two tills, about £270 in cash and £100 worth of scratchards, and champagne was stolen.
The men, one wore a high visibility jacket with his face covered, are both described as having dark tanned skin.
One of them knocked over the store manager leaving her very shaken. The offenders put the tills and scratchcards in a large white or grey bag and made off from the back of the shop.
Officers recovered a number of scratchcards scattered along Joyce Green Lane and into Austen Gardens. They believe the offenders may have been scratching and discarding them as they left the store.
DC Angela Costin said: “This was a violent burglary in which a significant amount of goods were taken. We would urge anyone with any information or who may have witnessed anything to come forward.
“If anyone saw two men wearing or holding balaclavas walking along Joyce Green Lane and Austen Gardens scratching and throwing the cards away, it is an unusual sight and we would urge them to get in touch.”
She added: “This was an unusual robbery with a clear element of planning as the suspects seemed to be aware of store opening times and entry methods used by staff.
“The trail of used scratchcards has provided us with some valuable evidence in that we are aware of the direction of travel the suspects used as they left the scene but we are still unsure if they travelled on foot or got into a waiting car.
“The suspects also had a very large white or grey sack which they used to carry the stolen goods, this is described as looking like a postman’s sack.”
