Three illegal takeaway workers arrested in Dartford

UK border officials have arrested three more illegal workers from north Kent as they continue their crackdown in the area.

After receiving information about possible offenders, officers went to Green Spice Restaurant, Green Street Green Road, Dartford, on Friday May 25.

Checks were made on staff and a 23-year-old man from Bangladesh was found to be in the UK illegally after his visa had expired.

The following day, UK Border Agency officers visited Radhuny Indian Cuisine, Lowfield Street, Dartford, and found two Bangladeshi men, aged 42 and 20, who were also working illegally having overstayed their visas.

All three men have been arrested and remain in detention awaiting deportation from the UK.

Both of the businesses raided face fines of up to £10,000 for each illegal worker unless they can provide evidence that the right checks for visas were made before employing them.

The local immigration team in Kent are carrying out checks every week across Kent and targeting employers who take on illegal workers.

On Saturday 26 a 25-year-old illegal worker from India was deported after a raid at a Gravesend shop. The man was arrested at Food and Wine Store, Milton Road, on May 16. He was placed in immigration detention until being removed from the country at the weekend.
