Dartford’s premier theatre the Orchard is celebrating 30 years of entertainment with a star-studded gala event.

Since April 14, 1983 when His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent officially cut the ribbon on the doors, the Orchard has welcomed some of the most well-known entertainers in the industry, from English tenor Alfie Boe to comedy legend Lenny Henry.

Three decades on, comedian Brian Conley will be joined on stage with cruise-ship singer Jane McDonald and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin.

Plans also include more than 30 theatre workshops covering costume design, stage make-up and stunt classes.

Tickets for the 30th Birthday Gala - being held on April 14 at 7.30pm - cost from £20 to £49.50 and are on sale from or by calling 01322 220000.
