The Unviersity of Kent student was killed on June 29 near the Dockside Outlet Centre
The family of a student who was brutally murdered in a shopping centre car park have confirmed her funeral will take place in Gravesend next month.
Molly McLaren, 23, from Cobham, was killed on June 29 near the Dockside Outlet Centre after sustaining injuries consistent with a stabbing.
An exercise, sport and health education student at the University of Kent, she also worked at The Leather Bottle pub in her home village, where staff described her as “a beautiful soul”.
Posting on social media, Miss McLaren’s mother, Jo, said the funeral had been arranged for Monday, August 21 at 11am at Gravesend Crematorium before moving on to The Leather Bottle.
She said: “Molly would want you all to wear either bright colours or gym wear and please bring a photo of a memory with Molly and a flower from your garden.
“We don’t want money wasted on bought flowers but if anyone feels the need to make a donation then please do so [online].”
Friends and family set up a foundation in her memory earlier this month and have already raised more than £11,000.
Joshua Stimpson, 25 and of High Street in Wouldham, Rochester, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and charged the following day.
He was remanded in custody after appearing via video-link from Elmley Prison, Sheppey, at Maidstone Crown Court, and will next appear in court on September 18 to enter a plea.
A trial start date has been set for January 22.
