Detectives investigating the murder of Bromley’s Danny Pearce have bailed a suspect they arrested in Dartford last week.

On July 15, Mr Pearce, his girlfriend and their friends were walking back from Oliver’s Jazz Club in Greenwich, to a parked car on King William Walk, when two men on a moped demanded his silver Rolex Datejust 2 2017 watch, thought to be worth around £5,000.

When the 31-year-old father refused, his killers launched a violent and sustained attack, during which gunshots were reportedly fired, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as “multiple stab wounds”.

On Wednesday, September 6, a 25-year-old man was arrested in Dartford on suspicion of murder.

He has since been bailed until early October pending further enquiries.

It is the second arrest police have made since the murder, after two police raids in Deptford in early August saw a 26-year-old man arrested.

He was released on bail until early November.

Investigating officer Jo Sidaway said the level of violence used against the former Bromley FC youth, Thamesmead Town, Slade Green, and Erith and Belvedere FC player was “horrendous”.

She said: “The suspects showed no mercy and only stopped their attack when the victim’s girlfriend shouted out to them that she would give them the watch if they ceased their attack,

“Without a hint of remorse they took the watch and fled the scene in the direction of Nevada Street.

“It is only by sheer luck that those with Danny did not suffer serious injury or worse as a result of the repeated shots fired.”

A spokesperson from Met Police said: “A reward of £10,000 is offered by the independent charity Crimestoppers for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Danny’s murder.

“Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 5054 or police via 101.

“To give information and qualify for the reward, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 or crimestoppers-uk.org.”
