A man has been jailed for three years after he was found with 40 wraps of heroin and cocaine in Gravesend .

Jebb Green was arrested by patrols after an on-duty police officer observed him shaking hands with a suspected drug user near the town centre. The 27-year-old, of Gordon Road in Belvedere, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing cocaine with intent to supply and another count of possessing heroin with intent to supply.

He was sentenced to three years at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday May 8.

The court heard that on April 14 an officer had become suspicious of an unknown man who he observed pacing backwards and forwards in the Rouge Lane area while constantly looking at his phone.

Around two minutes later he was seen meeting with Green in the Windmill Road area.

The pair then shook hands – a technique often used by drug dealers to discreetly exchange drugs for money.

This aroused further suspicion from the officer, who requested patrols to meet with him so they could detain Green.

Once Green had been escorted into custody, he was found to be concealing 40 wraps of class A drugs which were later found to be heroin and cocaine.

Det Con Daniel Bister, investigating officer for the case, said: “Green was arrested following a very good piece of proactive policing work and I welcome the sentence he has received.

“I would encourage anyone with information on drug activity to report it to us on 101 so that we can take the necessary action.”
