It will host some of the country’s biggest celebrations

Gravesend is set to host one of the biggest celebrations of St George’s Day across England this week.

Hundreds of local people will be turning out on Friday in honour of the patron Saint of England.

Some 700 local children from 15 local schools, with a parade through the town centre from 10am and brass bands, drummers and a town crier all featuring.

The event follows last weekend’s Vaisakhi celebrations.

Gurvinder Sandher, who helped organise both events said: “Over time this event has grown to become one of the biggest events of its kind in England and is an excellent example of how the arts can be used to bring communities together as one.”
