More than 150 signatures were collected on Saturday as part of a campaign on energy prices.

Six members of Gravesham Friends of the Earth braved the cold wind to garner support for the organisation’s Final Demad Campaign. Among them in Windmill Street, Gravesend, were campaigners Martin Wilson and co-ordinator Judy Dutfield.
She said: “We collected 150 signatures from people who, like us, are disgusted with the enormous profits being made by the big six energy companies while many people are struggling to pay energy bills.”
The petition was held a day after energy firm EDF announced yearly profits of £2.5 billion.
Friends of the Earth is asking for a full public inquiry into the big six’s influence and more government support to clean local energy schemes.
The whole petition, which so far has more than 23,000 signatures, can also be found on www.foe.co.uk/finaldemand.
Administrators for Clinton Cards have announced the Birthdays store in Gravesend will definitely be closed while employees at Dartford and Gravesend Clinton Cards stores wait to hear their fate.
