The 5k course saw runners from Gravesend, London, and surrounding areas covered from head to toe in paint

More than 200 runners turned out to be splashed in paint as the colour run returned Gravesend on Sunday.

Held again at Cyclopark, young and old started the day in a white t-shirt whilst being sprayed head to toe in a rainbow of colours at each half kilometre of the 5k course.

Stacey’s Smiles, a Gravesend charity which was formed to raise awareness of the childhood cancer neuroblastoma, and local solicitors Sahota Newcomb Scott assisted the events team at the colour paint stations by throwing colour paint on the runners.

Mhairi Furtado, Event Manager at Cyclopark said:

“It was so uplifting to see so many families there and we had sunshine for the whole event. We started at 12 o’clock, and by then everyone was covered in paint.

“This event is for runners who aren’t competitive and it’s just about having fun with family and friends.

“Everybody was covered in paint and smiles. The next day the local fire brigade even came along and hosed down the tracks so the paint didn’t affect the bike riders!”

Alex Flint, CEO at Cyclopark added:

“I found it very rewarding to see such a wide cross section of families getting active at Cyclopark.”

Last year, the 5km North Kent Colour Run (NKCR) raised £4,000 for both Barnardos and Cyclopark where the event took place.

Cyclopark put on 40 events and races in 2016, and Operations/Events Manager Paul Panton anticipate this number will grow by 25% in 2017.
