Longfield man suffers burns after falling onto garden fire

PUBLISHED: 11:11 30 July 2012

A Longfield man suffered serious burns to the lower half of his body after falling onto a fire in his garden.

The 54-year-old fell onto a brazier - a metal frame to contain outdoor fires - on Friday night (27) at around 10.30pm, and neighbours helped put out his clothing and then submerged the burns in cold water.

Firefighters were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has sent out a plea for people to take care when having a fire in their garden.
