Meopham’s new library has been officially opened after moving from a site nearby.

The new building, which includes full computer and WiFi facilities, as well as a wide range of traditional reading material, is still within the grounds of Meopham School in Wrotham Road.

It was opened by KCC’s Cabinet member for Community and Regulatory Services, Mike Hill, and the divisional member for Gravesham Rural, Bryan Sweetland.

Other guests included members of Meopham Parish Council, several of the regular library users and James Pearson, the head of KCC’s Libraries, Registration and Archives service.

Free face painting and badge-making were also enjoyed by younger visitors.

Mr Hill said: “This is an impressive new facility which I am sure will be appreciated by all the library customers in and around Meopham.

“Our investment illustrates KCC’s commitment to the library service across the county.”
