Bluewater’s Glow venue will host boxer James DeGale on Saturday for his eagerly awaited super middleweight division fight against American Dyah Davis.

The 27-year-old Londoner’s progress has stalled somewhat but he is keen to use the Greenhithe arena as a launchpad to reignite his career.

He said: “It’s a great venue and I want to go in there and put on a performance for all the fans – I want the big names and the big nights and I know the first step to that is doing a good job on Davis.”

Stjepan Bozic and Hadillah Mohoumadi were both beaten by the 2008 Olympic gold medallist in his only two previous fights at the arena.

DeGale, though, is keen to remain focused on the immediate task rather than look too far ahead.

He added: “Now my only focus is on Davis, November 16 and delivering a big performance for the fans.

“It’s time now for me to make a statement because it’s not about treading water, trust me, I do want the big fights and I want the big names.

“I’m not overlooking Davis, if anything I’m more focused on him because I know where a good performance here can lead me.”

Tickets are priced from £40 and are available to buy from Hennessy Sports box office on 01925 755 222 or online at hennessy.ticketline.co.uk.
