An investigation has been launched into a fire at a leisure centre in Northfleet.

Crews were called to Cygnet Leisure Centre on Old Perry Street in the early hours of Friday morning, where nobody was in the building.

Gravesham Community Leisure Limited (GCLL) and Gravesham Borough Council are working with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent Police to investigate the cause of the fire.

A council spokesperson said: “At the moment, the extent of the damage is unknown but we are working with GCLL to get Cygnet back open as soon as possible.

“The facilities at the council’s other facility, Cascades Leisure Centre in Thong Lane, are open as usual today.”
