Motorists are advised to use an alternative route where possible

The M25 is closed near the Dartford Crossing this evening following a horror smash between two lorries.

The HGVs collided just before the tunnel on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway and highways chiefs have halted traffic in both directions while emergency crews deal with a vehicle fire at the scene.

As a result there are queues stretching back past junction 3 for Swanley, while on the clockwise carriageway there are queues back into Essex.

A spokesperson said: “Please allow extra time for your journey and use an alternative route where possible.”
