Buildings have been evacuated in Northfleet after the discovery of a “suspicious package” on Thursday morning.

Police were called to Wallis Park at 8.22am following the report.

A spokesperson from Kent Police said: “Officers have established a cordon and evacuated nearby buildings as a precaution. Explosive Ordnance Teams from the Ministry of Defence attended the scene and carried out a controlled explosion.

“The package was subsequently found to be non-suspicious.”

The cordon has been set up to stop people getting in to Wallis Park via Grove Road and College Road.

We have approached the MoD for comment.
