Rising Premier League star Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been picked in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time.

The Chelsea midfielder, currently impressing on loan at Crystal Palace, is one of three uncapped players to be picked for friendlies against Germany and Brazil this month.

A former student at High Firs Primary School and Orchards Academy, the Swanley-raised footballer has made 22 appearances for Chelsea, and seven so far this season at Crystal Palace.

He has worked his way through the ranks at a national level and first signed for the west London club at eight-years-old.

Fellow Chelsea academy product Tammy Abraham, currently on loan at Swansea City and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez are two other players who could make their England debuts when they play Germany on November 10 and Brazil on November 14.

England’s full squad is expected to be announced at 2pm.
