A member of Hastings Pier’s security team is aiming to walk 163-miles from Gravesend to Hastings in 11 days tomorrow.

Nigel James is raising money for the Hastings Pier Charity, which was set up following the devastating fire which tore through the 19th century attraction in 2010.

Setting off tomorrow (Friday) Mr James will be walking along the Saxon Shore Way, a coastal footpath dating back to the Roman era, aiming to arrive at Hastings Pier on May 1.

Mr James said: “To keep the pier running and free to visit for the public costs a great deal, so to give a little back to my adopted community I will undertake a walk along the Saxon Shore Way, hopefully inspiring others to donate.”

So far he has raised £370 of his £2000 target, to donate, click here.
