Tories hold Swanley county, district and parish seats at by-election

A by-election was held on Thursday

Voters in Swanley went to the polls yesterday following the death of their local county councillor.

Conservative Robert Brookbank was the town’s county councillor, also representing the area at a district and parish level.

Following his death in August, a by-election was held yesterday (Thursday) to find replacements for the town’s three empty seats.

The vote ended in a Conservative hold across county, district and parish level.

The results are as follows:

KCC by-election:

Michael Horwood (Cons) 717 votes.

James Halford (Ukip) 615 votes.

Angela George (Labour) 518 votes.

Robert Woodbridge (Lib Dems) 362 votes.

Sevenoaks District Council by-election

Clare Barnes (Cons) 311 votes.

Jacqueline Griffiths (Labour) 274 votes.

Krish Shanmuganathan (Lib Dems) 183 votes.

Medina Hall (Ukip) 131 votes.

Swanley Town Council by-election

Michael Horwood (Cons) 319 votes.

Robert Woodbridge (Lib Dems) 318 votes.

Jim Ware (Labour) 304 votes.
