Motorists are warned to expect delays of several hours

Motorists are facing travel chaos in the run-up to rush hour following two serious crashes on the M25.

Traffic is currently being held on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway at junction 1B, on the approach to the Dartford Crossing, with queues stretching back as far as junction 3 for Swanley.

Highways chiefs expect the road to remain shut throughout rush hour, with drivers being diverted towards the junction 2 exit.

Barely an hour later, another smash on the anti-clockwise carriageway at junction 4 for Orpington has shut that stretch of the motorway.

Emergency services are at the scene and all traffic is being diverted off the exit slip road.
