Closures will take place on the anti-clockwise carriageway tonight and tomorrow

Motorists on the M25 are advised of closures tonight and tomorrow following the accident at the Dartford Crossing at 6am this morning which caused both tunnels to close.

Urgent repairs will be taking place, with lane one (of three) on the M25 anticlockwise carriageway at junction 31 remaining closed until 10pm tonight after a safety barrier was damaged in the incident.

After 10pm, the anti-clockwise carriageway will be fully closed between junctions 31 and 30 until 5.30am. From Friday morning, three narrow lanes will be open past the scene, to help drivers with their journeys on Friday.

The anticlockwise carriageway will also be closed tomorrow night from 11pm until 6am to complete the barrier repair, with the road planned to be open fully on Saturday morning at 6am.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place during both closures via the exit slip road at junction 31 and the northbound link road to junction 30.

Drivers are being urged to check the latest conditions before setting out and to allow extra time for their journeys.

Another accident took place this morning on the Kent side of the crossing between junction 2 and 3.

These accidents are less than a week after a power failure meant drivers were stuck at the tunnels for hours, and less than 24 hours after a multi-vehicle collision last night caused delays.
