Harvest season has seen more than 100 children and parents pick vegetables grown in Mile End Park.

Green fingered youngsters were given growing tips before preparing healthy snacks using their freshly picked vegetables.

Krystal, 11, was one of the youngsters who turned out to cook up a treat.

“I thought the day was fun for me and my brothers and sisters,” she said. “We all enjoyed making soup as a family and I had a giggle the whole time.”

The ‘growing zone’ in Mile End Park has become a destination-of-choice for people seeking edible delights such as jams, soups and salads.
