Great Britain suffered a major disappointment in men’s fencing as medal hopeful Richard Kruse went down 5-15 to Russian rival Artur Akhmatkhuzin.

28-year-old Londoner Kruse was defeated emphatically in under five minutes in his round of 32 duel.

His Russian opponent took control early on, forcing Kruse to come out on the attack and allowing the Russian the opportunity to hit with ease.

After defeats to fellow British fencers James-Andrew Davis and Husayn Rosowsky, Great Britain now have no remaining hope of a medal in the sport.
