Eyewitness Edgar Pereira, 29. took this image moments after the accident near the Harvester Restaurant on Rochester Road, Gravesend.

It is thought the shaken driver clambered from the car minutes later and was treated at the scene but did not receive serious injuries.

Mr Pereira, who lives nearby, said: “It looked pretty nasty. The roads are clear but there is icy sludge to the sides created by tyre tracks and it seems the car may have caught this and hit the parked car.

“Luckily the driver managed to get free and although seemed in shock appeared to have a scratch or cut on his head but was relatively ok considering what had just happened.”

Kent Police attended and diverted traffic from the Lion roundabout along Barr Road and Thong Lane.

Police, fire and paramedics attended with Kent highways engineers.
