A BOYBAND member is taking time out from a music tour in a bid to win a motorsport racing cup for the second time.

Shane Lynch and his band Boyzone will be performing at the Carlisle Live Festival this Saturday and the singer will then hit the road to take part in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup at Brands Hatch, Longfield, on the same day.

Earlier this month, Shane, who hadn't competed on track all year, took his SEAT Leon FR to victory at Donington, Derby.

Lynch will be given the chance to repeat his performance during the Dunlop Great and British Motorsport Festival on Sunday and on Monday which also features the Mini Challenge and Radical Cup, both at the Rockingham track, in Northamptonshire.

The singer was also a member of the judging panel during Dunlop Race Academy 2007 at Silverstone, Northamptonshire.

Whilst heading the media panel, Shane questioned the Race Academy finalists and scored them based on their media skills. Tickets for the Brands Hatch race are £12 for adults and can be bought on the day or in advance for £10 at www.motorsportvision.co.uk.
