A festival dedicated to showcasing the range of artistic activities available in the borough will be opened with a one woman show.
West End actress Alison Neil will return to Gravesend to perform Truly Yours, C.B, a show dedicated to the life of author Charlotte Brontë to open the month-long Gravesham Arts Festival on October 23.
Neil wowed crowds at the first arts festival last year with her performance of The Sixth Wife, the dramatised story of Katherine Parr, last wife of Henry VIII.
In Truly Yours, C.B, which Neil wrote, she plays Miss Brontë and a host of other characters.
Josie Best, a Gravesham Arts Festival organiser, said: “She was fantastic last year. Going home you could have sworn there was someone up on stage with her.
“We wanted to get the festival off to a great start so we were very pleased to be able to get her down.”
A full programme of the month of events is set to be published and will be available in Towncentric.
Last year featured performances and displays from arts and crafts groups such as North Kent Embroiders Guild and Gravesend Art Group, The Meopham Players and Cobham Amateur Dramatics Group and the Gravesham Choral Society.
For tickets to Your Truly C.B. in St George’s Church from 7.30pm, call 01474 363 778.
