£20 million investment for Thames Gateway businesses

PUBLISHED: 12:39 19 October 2012

Businesses across north Kent will receive a £20m boost to support investment and jobs in the Thames Gateway.

TIGER – that’s the Thames Gateway Innovation Growth and Enterprise project – is providing interest-free loans to businesses looking to invest in Dartford, Gravesham, Medway, Swale and Thurrock, in new products and services that will unlock new jobs.

The scheme is one of 130 chosen by the Government that will receive a slice of £1bn to boost economic growth in the country.

By April, businesses will be able to apply direct to TIGER for their proposal to be independently assessed.

Gravesham council leader John Burden hailed the announcement, saying: “It is a very welcome shot in the arm for local entrepreneurs who, especially following recent regeneration announcements, may be seeking to grow their business and with it local employment opportunities which are urgently needed.”
