A fire in Longfield last night is being treated as suspicious.

A massive fire in Longfield last night is being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters were called to the a derelict building in Old Wood Yard, Northdown Road, just after 6.45pm yesterday evening.

Two engines from Dartford station found an area of approximately 30 square foot on fire, which they tackled with hose reels.

Two more crews from Thames Side station were later called to deliver extra water supplies.

Police officers were also called to the scene just after 7pm and they are investigating the incident.

Northdown Road was closed from the junction with Highcross Road to the Green Street Green side due to smoke on the carriageway and it reopened at 8.20pm.

Firefighters left the scene at 7.50pm.
