A 34-YEAR-OLD man is being quizzed by police today (Wednesday November 5) following the discovery of a woman's body.

The man, who is from the Gravesend area, was arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with the incident.

An investigation was launched after police in north Kent attended an address in Russell Road, Gravesend at about 2.15am on Tuesday following a report that the body of a 34-year-old woman had been found.

Detective Inspector Ian Dampier is in charge of the investigation. He said: "The circumstances surrounding this death are unclear and until we investigate further and receive the results of tests carried out yesterday on the victim, we cannot clarify whether this incident is suspicious or not.

"At present we can only continue to treat the death as unexplained."

A post-mortem examination was carried out late that afternoon and a number of further tests are underway to establish the cause of death.

Two separate scenes remain cordoned off in connection with the inquiry to allow forensic examination to take place. These are in Russell Road, Gravesend, which is where the body was discovered, and in Clifton Grove, Gravesend.
