Arsonists are thought to have caused a fire that severly damaged an empty cottage.

The blaze at an isolated building in Leywood Road, East of Meopham and Vigo, was tackled by 24 firefighters.

Using two hose reels and a jet, they managed to save most of the unfurnished home, which has been unoccupied for a number of years.

A joint investigation has been launched with Kent Police and a detailed examination of the scene was being carried out last Thursday morning, following the blaze at 7.30pm the previous day.

Call Detective Sergeant Tom Duff on 01474 366098 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
