ATM ripped from Meopham newsagents

Thieves have smashed into a newsagents and ripped out a cash machine using to 4x4’s.

Police were called to a parade of shops on Wrotham Road by Meopham Rail Station just before 3am on Saturday after the ATM inside McColls Newsagents was torn from the building by criminals using a Jeep Cherokee and Toyota 4-Runner.

The cars were later found dumped in an outbuilding in a field near Nurstead Lane, Meopham, while a cash machine, thought to be the one in question, was found in Headcorn.

Detective Inspector Ian Dampier said: “A number of local residents have already contacted us with information, which we are extremely grateful for and we would encourage anyone who witnessed the incident take place to contact Kent police as a priority.
