A 24-YEAR-OLD is due to be sentenced after he was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a football fan following a Wembley cup final.

Ben Turner, of Downs Road, Istead Rise, is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court tomorrow.

He was convicted last month of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Jim Parkinson, who has been left with permanent brain damage, following an argument at New Road taxi rank in May 2008 after the cup final between Ebbsfleet United and Torquay.

Friend Ryan Bell, 29, who has admitted affray after kicking another man on the floor during the incident, will also be

sentenced.

Ciggies pinched

THIEVES stole £4,900 worth of cigarettes from a newsagent during a break-in.

The raid at McColls newsagent in Leander Drive, Gravesend, took place at 4am last Friday.

Staff arrived at the shop in the morning to find the glass front door had been smashed and the cigarettes had been stolen.

Nothing else was taken.
