AN ARMED man held up a bank and made off in a car - but dropped an amount of cash nearby.

At 9.30am this morning (8), police were called to the Lloyds TSB bank in Perry Street, Northfleet, to reports of an armed robbery.

A male offender went into the bank with a black handgun, demanded money and left. He is believed to have fled in a car, which was waiting for him.

The car is a red Skoda Octavia estate which was parked in Alfred Place and police are asking the public to report any sighting of it or to give details about the driver.

An amount of cash was dropped nearby and police are examining it for any forensic clues.
