Next week is Volunteer Week nationwide

Battersea Dogs’ and Cats’ home is looking for more volunteers at its Brands Hatch site.

As part of Volunteers’ Week next week, the charity will be holding parties for staff and animals to say thank to its existing volunteers – who number around 530.

Their jobs include supporting kennels and the cattery, helping out on reception, collections and fundraising.

The home is now appealing for more volunteers to help with fundraising activities in Kent, to help provide for the thousands of animals it cares for every year.

Community fundraising manager Natalie Wood said: “Our volunteer fundraisers work tirelessly in their own time to organise events and we’re so grateful for their support.

“Battersea cares for around 9,000 dogs and cats a year and we receive no central Government funding, so we rely on the generosity and support of the public.

“Thanks to the fundraising activities organised by our passionate supporters, we can continue to care for homeless animals until new families can be found for them.”
