She talked to students about her popular ‘The Chocolate Box’ series
Students from a Dartford school were visited by a best-selling author last week.
Cathy Cassidy talked to pupils from Wilmington Grammar School for Girls about her popular ‘The Chocolate Box’ series and her latest books ‘Looking Glass Girl’ and ‘Fortune Cookie.’
As one of the UK’s top young person’s authors, she encouraged the girls, as well as students from neighbouring schools, Wilmington Academy and Dartford Grammar School for Girls, to embark on their own literary journey.
The event was well-received, providing proof that books, stories and writing are still every bit as thrilling to the students as any digital content or social media platform.
Ms Cassidy, who signed copies of her books after the talk, said: “I love the enthusiasm and the questions from the students.
“Touring and meeting them is my favourite part of being a writer.”
Students described the event as “life changing,” “inspirational” and revealed they were taught that “daydreaming can take us anywhere.”
Ms Cassidy has published 23 books, and has twice won the prestigious ‘Queen of Teen’ award, and was an art teacher, a magazine editor and an agony aunt before becoming a full time author.
