Bluewater extension could add 1,500 more jobs

PUBLISHED: 10:40 07 August 2012

Bluewater could become the largest shopping centre in the country and offer up to 1,500 new jobs if expansion plans are given the go ahead.

Land Lease, which owns the centre, is applying to extend Bluewater’s existing retail and eating space by 20 per cent.

The new jobs created would be made available to local residents via the Learning Shop - the on-site training facility.

In June, 4,550 people across Dartford and Gravesham were receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance.

General manager Robert Goodman said: “We are keen to ensure that Bluewater’s guests, in particular the local community, have the very best retail and leisure available.

“We also remained committed to creating more jobs and training opportunities for local residents.”
