A BODY found in woodland is believed to be a man

Kent Police are investigating an unexplained death after the body of a man was found in a wooded area at the end of Canal Road in Higham yesterday (7).

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 4pm and are maintaining a presence today.

Senior investigating officer DCI Dave Withers said: "Forensic officers will remain at the scene for most of the day as we try to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

"We believe at this time the body is that of an adult man but until we can establish the cause of death we must treat this as unexplained."

The area has been cordoned to allow forensic examination of the scene.

As police are in the early stages of the investigation there are no further details available at this time.

The area is likely to remain cordoned for the remainder of the day as forensic examiners attend the scene. A forensic anthropologist will be assisting officers in the removal of the remains.

No further information has been released at this stage.
