Body spotted in West Street, Gravesend close to where Nathan Lane disappeared attempting to save drowning girl

A body has been found close to the spot where Nathan Lane went missing as he tried to save a 12-year-old girl from drowning on Sunday.
Police were called to West Street, in Gravesend, at around 4.30pm after reports of a body found in the river.
Gravesend RNLI were joined by Met Police and the Port of London Authority as they searched for Nathan at the weekend. The Essex Police helicopter was also scrambled to assist.
The search has continued since he went missing at around 4pm on Sunday. The 12-year-old he tried to save was rescued by four other members of the public who rushed to their aid.
Officers are currently at the scene, though the body is yet to be identified.
