THE grandmother of Bond girl Gemma Arterton has been found dead at her home after suffering a stab wound.
Named as Helen Sarfas, of Beechings Way, Gillingham, the 70-year-old grandmother was discovered at her home last Friday. Gemma was reported to have been told the devastating news on Saturday.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious. An 85-year-old man who had been questioned has been released on police bail.
The spokesperson added: "Kent Police is investigating the death of a 70-year-old woman in Medway.
"The result from the post-mortem showed she died following a stab wound and there are indications that this was self-inflicted.
"An 85-year-old man who was being questioned by detectives has been released on police bail while further inquiries are carried out.
"Kent Police is not treating the death as suspicious and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with it."
Gemma, 23, a former Northfleet Girls School pupil and student at the Miskin Theatre in North West Kent College, can be seen in St Trinians II, and in the West End play, The Little Dog Laughed, which opened on Monday.
A spokesperson for the actress, who played Agent Fields alongside Daniel Craig in the Bond film Quantum of Solace, did not want to comment.
After leaving north Kent, Gemma gained a place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She has since starred in a number of films, including the Richard Curtis comedy The Boat that Rocked and with Dartford actor Mackenzie Crook in Three and Out.
She will be back in cinemas in May this year when she will be featuring in the epic Prince of Persia, based on a video game, alongside Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
