Bulbs in a boat central to Eynsford’s In Bloom title tilt
PUBLISHED: 10:40 09 June 2011
»Volunteers have been planting bulbs and preparing their village for a crack at the South and South East In Bloom competition.
Eynsford will be awash with colour after bedding plants were laid in an abandoned boat and placed by the riverside, bulbs planted by the Ford and flowers prepared for the War Memorial and Fern Bank.
Pauline Penney, one of the organising committee involved, said: “Eynsford has received a Silver Gilt Award for the past seven years and hopes to maintain this standard again.
“Financial support from the parish council, village society, village hall trustees, various donations, and fundraising by Best Kept Village volunteers has enabled the group to continue maintaining an attractive and pleasant village for residents and tourists.”
Judging takes place on July 6.
Neighbouring Swanley is entering the competition, with hanging baskets, plantings on roundabouts and barrier baskets sponsored by a group of businesses going up.
The council is also running the gardening competition, calling on its most green-fingered residents to show their skills off in categories, including best front or back garden, residential area or community initiative.
n To enter, call Liz Davies at Swanley Town Council on 01322 665855.
